Probiotic Yogurt
Meiji released Meiji Probio Yogurt LG21 in 2000 after years of research into lactic acid bacteria. The product's popularity created a trend in Japan where people chose yogurt based on the specific benefits of lactic acid bacteria strains. A new probiotic yogurt market emerged, motivating us to release Meiji Probio Yogurt R-1 in 2009 and Meiji Probio Yogurt PA-3 in 2015.

What are the Probiotics in Meiji Probio Yogurt?
Our first probiotics yogurt, Meiji Probio LG21, uses the LG21 strain of lactic acid bacteria, which survives and reproduces effectively in the stomach, supporting a healthy balance of bacteria in the gut.
Discovered in the 1970s, researchers selected the lactic acid bacteria strain 1073R-1, commonly known as R-1, from a collection of 6,000 species of lactic acid bacteria for its health benefits.
Some foods can cause an unhealthy rise in uric acid, leading to inflammation and disease. Studies show the PA-3 strain protects the body by reducing uric acid levels after meals.
